Anahit Fahihi

I began drawing and painting passionately at the age of 12. Since then my formal art education has been primarily in fine art, design, studio painting and later textiles art, specifically weaving became the logical extension of my academic pursuits in my graduate studies at university.

My curiosity and excitement in exploring and discovering a variety of media and techniques led me to create artistic pieces that are classified as "Mixed Media Art".

After many years of experimentation, I then went on to study furniture design as I wanted to explore and express in three dimensional concepts.

My interest in mythological characters are a continuous source of inspiration in my recent work. I incorporate knitting and embroidery techniques as well as a variety of materials such as metal, wire, glass, fiber and wood.

I am very excited to be working with this new approach to making art, as I equate mixed-media with multi-cultural concerns. I have lived in several different countries, and I want to incorporate my ideas of cultural diversity and attempt to adapt, change, mix and investigate various materials to see how they will work when living beside each other.
